Oslo, the city of Vikings, the capital of Norway, is a city known as one of the happiest places in the world- though is very expensive, is a place worth visiting once for its viking history and scandinavian culture or to just see that electric cars can be more common than normal combustion engine cars if the government has will and money.

Oslo is served by two airports– Gardermoen and Torp. The best way to travel to city center is via local train- Oslo S. There is a faster train-Airport express also available but that is almost double the price & is only 3-4 minutes faster. Buy tickets from NSB vending machines. Get down at Oslo central station. The currency is Norwegian Kroner (No Euro). The commuting/eating/shopping here is quite expensive. Lets create an itinerary for a weekend stay here covering two days.

First day, once you reach the Oslo Central Station, here itself is a very good spot to roam around. The mall and shops and the Tiger sculptor just outside the station is very good. From here, walk towards Oslo cathedral. It is a beautiful building. From here, go to Norwegian Parliament. From here you can walk towards the Botanical garden. It is one of the best botanical gardens. Very near to the botanical garden you’ll get the Natural History Museum as well. From here go to the Munch Museum. Even if you don’t go inside, the building’s modern architecture is amazing in itself. From here walk towards the ekebergparken- it is a sculptor park.

Second day, start from the Oslo Opera house. this is an ultra modern looking Opera house. Don’t forget to climb to the top of the Opera house. From here, go to the Akershus Fortress. Take the stunning views of sea and the city from this fortress. Then travel towards the City Hall (Radhuset). Especially check out the Metro station here. It is a work of art. From here walk towards National Theatre and national gallery. There is Historical Museum also very near to these. From here take the Karl Johan Gate Road towards the Royal Palace. The Change of guard happens at 13:30. Then go around the palace towards Vestkanttorvet – which has a great flea market. Then go towards the amazing Vigeland Sculptor park. This park is amazing. Don’t miss out this park. Then if you are interested in the Viking history, then you should go to the Viking Ship Museum, which has an actual Viking ship’s remains. Or else you can come back to the Karl Johan Gate area and wander in the streets of that area.
